All you need to know about Aesthetic Design!!!

Aesthetic Design

Aesthetic design is influencing how people think and feel. It influences how much pleasure we feel from the product. Aesthetic design affects our long-term attitude about products and even people. Aesthetic design matters not only to make the first impression, but also to keep strengthening the bond with the user.

What is Aesthetics?

Aesthetics is the philosophical study of beauty and taste. The term stems from the Greek word “aisthetikos,” meaning “of sense perception,” and is related to the study of sensory values. In design, aesthetics refers to the visual attractiveness of a product. Studies have proven that creating good aesthetics in a product leads to better usability and user experience.
An aesthetic in a work of graphic design refers to a style or approach that is achieved in the overall “look” of the piece, using the elements that make up the design as the variables you alter/adjust in order to get this look. So, for example, you may be laying out a poster that has some text and images.
Example: The definition of aesthetic is being interested in how something looks and feels. An example of someone who is aesthetic might be an artist. Aesthetic means the pleasant, positive or artful appearance of a person or a thing. An example of the word is aesthetic is to say that a particular car is beautiful.

What is the purpose of Aesthetics?

Aesthetics is the study of beauty. Beauty is important in life because it is representative of our values. Values are beautiful because they define our actions through life. With ethics we are able to define the nature of our values and allow them to shape us into the essential goodness that we have within ourselves.

People expect usability by default and are seeking products that are more than functional and usable. We want to experience pleasure, to stimulate our senses. We want the products we use to evoke positive emotion in us. Aesthetic design is crucial to satisfy these needs.
In designing with the purpose of increasing aesthetic value, one consideration in particular is essential—namely, the notion that beauty is not only objective and universal but that it has a subjective side to it as well. A user’s cultural background, education, or class may influence his or her judgments of aesthetic value. Designers need to understand these aspects in order to match them with the appropriate design. Thus, as aesthetics involves multiple dimensions of a target audience’s makeup, it demands research into diverse areas relevant to a product’s distribution, including foreign market considerations.

Why is Aesthetics important in Design?

An aesthetic design trend is composed of elements such as form, shape, proportion, color, materials, finish, texture and typography that create a distinct visual personality. A vast array of design styles and trends exists in the market simultaneously, for example you can buy Arts & Crafts, Mid Century Modern or Early American style furniture today; Aesthetic design trends, however, inform future trajectories that are most likely to influence how we design and experience products for the coming decades.

What are the Four components of Aesthetics?

Visual aesthetics have these key elements: Color, Shape, Pattern, Line, Texture, Visual weight, Balance, Scale, Proximity and Movement. Using these elements will help us achieve good visual aesthetics.
